Whenever ‘users’ provide us with your personal information via our website “Site(s)”, we will treat that information in accordance with this policy, our terms and conditions and current UK Data Protection legislation. The Age UK County Durham Group would like to keep in touch with users to let them know about the vital work we do for older people and our services and activities. By submitting personal email, address and phone number(s) on our Site, users are agreeing to being contacted in these ways by Age UK County Durham and its group of companies. 1  What personal information is collected from visitors to our website

When users visit the Site we collect various personal information which may include your name, address, contact details, IP address and information regarding what pages are accessed and when.If an individual makes a donation online or purchases a product from us, their card information is collected by our partner organisations Just Giving or Lloyds Card Net, but is not held by Age UK County Durham.  If you supply such information we are legally bound by the Data Protection Act 2018.

We may use this information in the following ways:

  • Process orders submitted by individuals;
  • Carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into by the individual and us;
  • Verify an individual’s identity;
  • Seek an individual’s views or comments on the services we provide;

  • Send an individual communications which they have requested and that may be of interest to them.

These may include information about campaigns, appeals, other fundraising activities  and promotions of our associated companies, goods and services.

We are committed to protecting the personal data of our supporters, customers and members. Any details you give us will be held in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Age UK County Durham (including its associated and subsidiary company[ies]) is the sole owner of the information collected on this Site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to third parties, unless we have an individual’s explicit permission to do so, or we are required to do so by law, for example, by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime. Where an individual has given us permission we may contact them about other services and  products or pass their details to similar organisations.

4  How an individual can access, update or delete their information

The accuracy of your information is important to us. We are working on ways to make it easier for to review and correct the information that we hold about individuals. Individuals can update their contact details at any time by contacting us at our registered address, by email, by phone or in writing. Individual’s have the right to ask for a copy of the information Age UK County Durham holds about them. If the request for access to information is not clear, the Chief Executive Officer will send a Subject Access Request form for clarification and further actions. If an individual does not want to continue receiving information by email from us, please contact us.

5  Security precautions in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of an individual’s information

When an individual gives us personal information, we take steps to ensure that it is treated securely. Any sensitive information (such as credit or debit card details) is encrypted and protected with the following software 128 Bit encryption on SSL. When you are on a secure page, a lock icon will appear on the bottom of web browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Non-sensitive details (email address etc) are transmitted normally over the Internet, and this can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect personal information, Age UK County Durham Group cannot guarantee the security of any information transmitted to us, and individuals do so at their own risk. When we receive an individual’s information, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems. Where we have given (or where someone has chosen) a password which enables them to access certain parts of our Sites, the individual is responsible for keeping this password confidential. The password should not be shared with anyone.

6  Stipulations regarding use of the discussion boards

Any communication or material that an individual transmits to, or posts on, any public area of the Site including, but not limited to, any data, questions, comments, suggestions, reviews, or the like, is, and will be treated as, non-confidential and non-proprietary information. When entering the discussion forum, an individual is agreeing not to publish, post, disseminate distribute or otherwise transmit any defamatory, offensive, infringing, indecent or otherwise unlawful or objectionable material or information. Age UK County Durham Group will not be responsible for the posting by any user of any defamatory, obscene or otherwise unlawful material. Age UK County Durham Group has the right to remove any material or posting an individual makes on this Site at its discretion. 

7  What happens when visitors link to another site?

Our Site may contain links to other websites. This privacy policy applies only to our Site‚ so visitors should always be aware when they are moving to another site and read the privacy statement of any site which collects personal information. We cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of other sites even if they have been accessed via links from our Site. We do not pass on any personal information about our visitors to any other site. In addition, if an individual has been linked to this Site from a third party site, we cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of the owners and operators of that third party site and recommend that individuals check the policy of that third party site and contact the owner or operator if they have any concerns or questions. 

8  Aged 16 or Under

Anyone aged 16 or under‚ must obtain their parent/guardian's permission beforehand when providing personal information to the Site. Users without this consent are not allowed to provide us with personal information.
