Engagement Programme for an Anglesey Strategy for an Ageing Society and Age Friendly Communities is launched.

Published on 01 February 2022 12:00 PM

Age Cymru Gwynedd a Môn, in collaboration with Medrwn Môn, has been commissioned by the Isle of Anglesey County Council to lead on an engagement programme throughout the island, and want to hear from you.

As part of the engagement programme, Age Cymru Gwynedd a Môn will reach out to individuals and communities over the next month to learn about what works well within local communities, and what can be done to improve existing provision. Within the work you’ll be able to voice your opinion on a variety of topics including Housing, Health and Social Care, Community Life, Transport and more.

There are two main aims to this engagement work, which is to support the Isle of Anglesey County Council’s work in working towards having Anglesey recognised under the World Health Organisation’s definition as an Age Friendly Community, and to create a local Strategy for an Ageing Society for Anglesey.

Input from this engagement work will be used to influence the Council’s next steps in ensuring that Anglesey becomes an Age Friendly Community, and achieving the vision for a Strategy for an Ageing Society, which is an age-friendly Wales which supports people of all ages to live and age well. We want to create a Wales where everybody looks forward to ageing.

Focus Groups

A series of Focus Groups will be held in Community Hubs across Anglesey throughout February. To find out if there’s a session arranged in your local Hu, or to organise a Focus Group, contact Sioned Young through the details listed below.

Walkability Audit Tool

As part of the engagement work, Medrwn Môn will also be leading work on a Walkability Audit Tool to learn more about how Anglesey’s residents feel about the communities they live and work in. This is done by meeting with a group of people from a community to walk around your local area with a member of staff from Medrwn Môn to check that our neighbourhoods and streets are places where people of all ages and abilities can walk safely, conveniently and independently. Information received from this work will be fed into the wider engagement programme.

If you are interested in taking part in a Walkability session, contact Delyth Owen on Delyth@medrwnmon.org and 07376948355 or 01248 724944.
