Royal Parks Half Marathon

Published on 03 May 2022 02:52 PM

On Sunday, 10 October 2021, a team of seven incredible runners took on the Royal Parks Half - London to raise vital funds for Age UK Hammersmith & Fulham. Staff members Emily and Lauren, Trustee James and volunteers Ema, Esme, Charlie and Paddy were the super team putting their best feet forward.

It was their first half marathon for most of them, something of a daunting prospect. Many members of Age UK H&F turned out in force to cheer them on! The assurance that they were tackling a huge challenge to ensure that older people in Hammersmith & Fulham could continue to enjoy activities, hot lunches, befriending and more kept our runners in the race. They all triumphantly crossed the finish line in record time. Not only did they all smash their respective races, but they also flew past their collective fundraising target, raising over £5,000 for those who rely on our help!

Here's what Charlie (left) had to say about the day:

"Running for Age UK Hammersmith & Fulham was a true pleasure! The team was lovely and supportive throughout training, especially on the day! The thought of a pint back at the pub with the team post-race got me through a few miles for sure! The race was electric on the day, the buzz almost tangible! It felt great to push my body and raise life-changing money. Even if you turn up solo, you run all together. Epic day, sign me up for 2022!"

Thank you to Emily, Lauren, James, Ema, Esme, Charlie and Paddy for taking on the challenge and to everyone who sponsored them!
