Be a home hero - take on the 2.6 Challenge for us!

Published on 20 April 2020 09:10 PM

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect on charities with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events. At Age UK Horsham District we depend on this income to support older people.

In response to this crisis, the UK’s mass participation sports event industry has come together to create The 2.6 Challenge, a nationwide fundraising campaign to Save the UK’s Charities. We are inviting the public to dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and fundraise or donate to their chosen charity to help Save the UK’s Charities.  Many already took part on Sunday 26th April when the 40th London Marathon would have been held but you can still take part any time and raise funds for Age UK Horsham District.

How can I get involved?

The 2.6 Challenge can be any activity you like – from running 2.6 miles to holding an online workout with 26 of your friends. Check out some ideas here.

Whatever your age or ability, you can take part. After all, we’re not looking for superheroes. We’re looking for Home Heroes.

Choose your #TwoPointSixChallenge, set up your fundraising page here, tell everyone what you are doing so they can sponsor you, then complete your challenge.  If you can't take part in the challenge, you can still donate to help us at this critical time.

You can do it at home

The #TwoPointSixChallenge is your chance to be a Home Hero and raise funds from your very own living room, bedroom, balcony or garden!

There are no rules – apart from the Government guidelines on how to exercise safely during this time. The main thing is to get active, have fun, pledge whatever you can to help or fundraise to save the UK’s charities.
