Sometimes, we all need a little help from a friend.

Our new service, launched in 2025 with the generous support of the Julia Rausing Trust and Age UK, is here to offer that helping hand.

This service aims to grow meaningful friendships between older people and our trained volunteers to help them achieve thier goals. Whether it’s something as simple as stepping outside for the first time in months, rekindling friendships by supporting them to write a letter to an old friend, our dedicated volunteers are here to empower you to achieve those small yet impactful goals.

What we offer?

  • Flexible Support Options: Whether you need short-term assistance or ongoing companionship, we tailor our services to meet your needs.
  • Face-to-Face or Telephone Befrienders: Our  volunteers provide a warm, personal touch to each interaction, helping to combat feelings of isolation through genuine companionship.
  • Goal Setting Focus: We collaboratively establish personal goals with you, focusing on your individual aims and aspirations to increase your sense of connectedness.
  • Confidence and Motivation Building: Our approach emphasises building self-confidence and empowering you to manage your current circumstances more effectively.
  • Enhanced Wellbeing: We aim to achieve a reduction in feelings of loneliness and improve overall wellbeing through regular social interactions and support.

Our Commitment

We are committed to promoting independence and support social connections among older individuals. We aim to empower our clients by celebrating their achievements and stepping down support as short-term goals are met.

However, if continued support is necessary, we will continue to support you and facilitate a longer-term relationship with our dedicated volunteers, ensuring ongoing companionship and social contact.
