Star Fundraiser!

In August Dawn Gash from our Home Help service in Lancaster took on a remarkable challenge with her husband Shaun.  The challenge was to cycle/push from Lands’ End to John O’Groats in 20 days.  Named ‘The 20 Twenty Challenge’, the aim was not only to complete the distance but also to support 20 worthy causes along the way.  Dawn chose us as her main charity and has raised an incredible £1470 achieved through this challenge and organising a training ‘Spin-a-thon’ at her local gym.

They faced many difficulties along the way including crashes, injuries, broken wheelchairs and bikes, but overcame them all to complete this amazing feat.  Through the Lancashire section of the journey many of our local staff came along to support, with some even running and cycling alongside them part of the way.  Dawn and Shaun were recently invited to our Celebration Event as special guests (as well as being nominated for a Value award!), where Shaun gave a very inspiring speech about his life, the fundraising challenges he and Dawn have been a part of and how supporting charities like ours motivates them both.  Well done to Dawn, Shaun and the team for such a fantastic achievement!
