Older people in Lancashire were invited to join Age UK Lancashire and Vincent’s Solicitors for a Festive Celebration on Tuesday 17th December. The event was held at our Lifestyle Centre in Chorley and focused on bringing together both existing and new guests for a singalong and Afternoon Tea.

Claire Yates, Project Manager said: “We want to encourage customers to come along to the centre, make new friends and take part in our activities especially around this time where older people may be facing loneliness.”

The day ran from 3 pm and included a Christmas quiz, live poem and singalong. Guests were then treated to Afternoon Tea with refreshments and a wide selection of cakes and sandwiches.

Regular visitors to the centre Kathleen and Margaret said: “We have been attending the Lifestyle Centre for four weeks and became friends instantly when we first met. We’re having a fantastic time today and enjoy a laugh with the local community. This is a great time to come together and celebrate Christmas.”

Head of Vincent’s Solicitors Chorley office Claire Hamilton was in attendance and had organised the afternoon, to support the firms aim to tackle loneliness amongst older people. The guests were also treated to a live acoustic performance by the group, The Elderly Brothers who rounded up the afternoon perfectly.

Angela Moss, Centre coordinator added: “We appreciate the help and support from Vincent’s and always look forward to welcoming existing and new guests at the Lifestyle Centre. We want to make a difference and provide a safe and fun environment for older people in Lancashire and look forward to the events we have planned in the New Year.”
