We’re looking for volunteers to help with our ‘All About You’ project, a 3-year partnership project with Cotman Housing and Age UK Norwich which provides much needed respite for adult carers of people over the age of 50 by helping them to take part in physical activity, safe in the knowledge that their loved one is being supported throughout. This may be a physical activity that they previously enjoyed prior to becoming a carer or something completely new!

Volunteers will meet with the carer and the person they are caring for at the venue and assist the carer so they can enjoy their activity of choice. This may be taking part in the activity yourself with the person they care for, or taking them for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat whilst the carer takes a class, goes for a swim or does a workout.

You will not be expected to carry any personal care (such as dressing or toileting) or manual handling of clients, or medical intervention but you should be empathetic to the problems faced by older people and their carers. A general interest in physical activity and exercise would be favourable but is not essential for the role.

Age UK Norwich will recruit and provide training for the volunteers, including Dementia Friend training. Cotman Housing will identify clients for the service and match with a volunteer.

Further details can be found in the role profile here
