Older People's Week

Age UK were involved in a number of events for Older People's week from 30th September to 6th October in Redbridge. We had information stalls at a Safety event on 30th September at Ilford Central Library. This was a day giving lots of information to people on keeping safe at home,with presentations on fire safety, bogus callers, scams and keeping safe on public transport. The Redbridge Pensioner's Forum were involved in organising the day and were assisted by London Borough Redbridge, Age UK Redbridge, Barking & Havering, and the Bogus Caller Partnership.

Our main event took place on Thursday 3rd October at the Churchill room, Wanstead Library. This was a Health and Wellbeing event with lots going on throughout the day. There were exercise taster sessions, health checks, reflexology, Pranic healing, nutrition and hydration information, art tables with demonstrations as well as lots of information for people. There was even a free Tombola! Our Wanstead Activity centre also had events throughout the week which included a poetry session with the Redbridge Rhymesters, a music session with Redbridge Music Lounge and a celebratory lunch with the Mayor. Age UK Redbridge, Barking & Havering is partnering with Tesco Roneo Corner, Hornchurch to host a Silver Sunday event on Sunday 13th October from 12.00-2.30pm. 

There will be music, a quiz, general chit chat as well as a buffet lunch and refreshments. If you are feeling a bit lonely, why not go along and have some fun?
