Our Chair based exercise groups are carried out in various venues throughout Redbridge, and are soon to be offered in Barking & Dagenham and Havering. These classes are specifically targeted at people who are at risk of falls, due to poor mobility, balance or postural stability. Our fully qualified instructor concentrates the exercises on improving these areas to help prevent further falls.

Here are some of the comments we have received on our feedback forms following a course of exercises:

Each week, even though I don't feel like coming, I am very glad that I came. The instructor is first class and incorporates many things.I have improved movement both at home and in the car. I used to suffer terribly from Sciatica but now Rama has exercises to help out, it quickly goes. The form doesn't give enough room to say how I have benefitted both physically and mentally.

The instructor is excellent managing to change the exercises every week - her ability to take individual needs into account is amazing. The atmosphere created in the class is excellent, I cannot imagine a better class for older people.

A comment from a walk leader:

The weather was kinder to us and we had a really good walk. Everyone is moving faster and technique is improving.

... and from a Tai-Chi attendee:

Having now attended five Tai-chi sessions at the Cranham Community Centre I'm really feeling the benefits. The Tai-chi way of moving seems to be filtering in to daily life in how I approach everyday tasks. As well as being great exercise Tai-chi also seems to be working as a "muscle audit" for me i.e. identifying lazy muscle groups that could perhaps let me down one day. Offering Tai-chi as part of falls prevention is a brilliant idea. Thank you!
