Falls Prevention Week 2025
Published on 17 September 2025 10:20 AM

This years theme From Awareness to Action, reminds us that falling is not an inevitable part of ageing. In fact, most falls can be prevented - and there is a lot we can do to lower the risk.
Staying active, building strength, and keeping fit all play a vital role in helping older adults stay steady, confident, and independent.
Falls, particularly for older people, can cause injury, pain, loss of confidence, and reduced quality of life. They are also a major reason for hospital admission and can lead to further complications and health problems.
Reducing the number of falls is important for maintaining the health, wellbeing and independence of older people.
