At Age UK Wakefield District, we believe that more can be achieved for older people by working with others than by working on our own.
We ensure that wherever possible, projects and services are delivered in partnership with other Organisations. These include local Charities, our National partner Age UK, Statutory Organisations such as Wakefield NHS and Wakefield Council, Schools, Community Groups and Special Interest Groups.
We belong to two consortia, Nova and area member of Age UK Yorkshire & Humberside Support Service. In addition to this we deliver services through formal and informal partnerships created specifically for certain projects. Almost all our services and projects are linked into other organisations at the point of delivery.
Nova is a formal consortium of local registered charities, constituted in 2010 in order to respond to the increasing need for Organisations to tender collectively for contracts and provides infrastructure support for local Organisations.
The consortium draws together organisations within Wakefield District who have a brief to improve wellbeing and as such, it is not focussed specifically on older people.
Voluntary Integrated Services for Older People (VISOP)
VISOP is an informal consortium of voluntary sector service providers for older people.
With the other partners, The Alzheimers Society, Carers Wakefield and District, DIAL, Pontefract Live at Home Scheme and Reconnect, we work with the expressed views of older people in order to develop appropriate and timely responses to local need.
VISOP acts as an umbrella organisation to other smaller service providers for older people and offers support when resources allow with infrastructure growth, local delivery and future growth.
