Current Vacancies 

Activity Worker, Crawley Centre

10.5 hours per week Monday to Wednesday Salary £8.96 per hour
An enthusiastic and capable individual is required to join our team to design and run activities and assist our members whilst they attend the centre. The successful candidate will be running the sessions, encouraging our members to join in and these will include sharing relevant information to members, art and craft groups, bingo, quiz’s plus you will also deliver chair-based exercise classes, for which training will be provided if necessary. A friendly and fun disposition is essential as well as some experience of running activities for older people.

Bank Take Home and Settle / Relative Support Coordinator

Princess Royal Hospital (with opportunity to work at East Surrey Hospital on occasion)

Up to 7.5 hour shifts, with 30 minute break on a bank / cover basis, 10am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. Salary £10.60 per hour

We are looking to recruit a Bank Coordinator to provide additional cover for absences to co-ordinate the Take Home and Settle and Relative Support service.

The team of Take Home and Settle Coordinators provide vulnerable people with the support they need to return home safely rather than be admitted to hospital due to a lack of support at home. Our Clients are people who live alone and do not have immediate support at home.

We collect patients from the discharge lounge:

  • take them home,
  • maybe do a bit of shopping on the way,
  • settle them at home checking heating and other facilities are working,
  • ensure they have eaten,
  • make sure they are comfortable and safe,
  • notify network of support they are home.

The successful applicant will need a practical approach, good people skills and will require a full driving license and use of a car.

Chef, Adur Community Clubs 

10 hours a week, 2 days a week; Tuesday in Shoreham and Thursday in Sompting. 9.30am – 2.30pm 
£9.20 per hour
About the role:

One of your key responsibilities will be preparing home made, quality meals. You will get to know our members so will respond to any special dietary requirements or preferences, promoting choice, dignity and respect.
Managing the kitchen supplies, you will also be responsible for checking and maintaining kitchen equipment
You will complete all necessary paperwork such as COSHH, HACPP, whilst adhering to company policies and procedures 
Support the Community Activities Manager in training and supporting kitchen volunteers
Occasionally you will help cater for ad hoc special events that take place over the weekend or in the evening
Needs to be a car driver.

Home Helpers required

We are looking for SELF EMPLOYED HOME HELPS in the WEST SUSSEX, BRIGHTON and HOVE areas to help with household tasks, cleaning, shopping and provide social support to assist older people to remain independent in their own homes.

Working between Monday and Friday, the hours are flexible and according to your availability.  Rates of pay are between £10 and £14 per hour depending on the area.

Car drivers preferred but not essential.

All applicants will have a DBS check through Age UK West Sussex and must have their own Liability Insurance.  Training and ongoing support will be provided.

Gardeners / Handypeople required

We are looking for SELF EMPLOYED GARDENERS / HANDYPEOPLE in WEST SUSSEX to help with gardening and odd jobs to assist older people to remain independent in their own homes.

Working between Monday and Friday, the hours are flexible and according to your availability.  Rate of pay is £15 per hour for both gardeners and handypeople.

You will need to have all your own tools and equipment.  You must have Liability Insurance.
