We are a Brand Partner of Age UK, an independent, local charity and a company limited by guarantee and have been helping the older people of West Sussex for over 60 years. We have a group turnover of approximately £2.5million with a large percentage coming from local government funding and a staff of around 100.

We are a lively and innovative charity providing a wide range of services and support to older people throughout the county which include our Daybreak Services - respite for Dementia Carers, Activity & Social Centres along with our Community Based Clubs, Home from Hospital, Information & Advice and Help at Home. Our aim is to promote the well-being of all older people and make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

Community Support Worker

37 Hours. Salary £20,414 per annum
Based at County Hall North Horsham

Age UK West Sussex and Age UK Brighton and Hove have recently merged. With new combined leadership, we are developing and designing a future strategy and vision for older people across both West Sussex and Brighton and Hove. 

We work with West Sussex County Council Prevention Assessment Team to support the wellbeing of adults and older people and have the following vacancy.

This role will provide access to practical support to vulnerable people where a specific need exists. The purpose is to engage directly with clients to provide one-off, time limited practical support to access sources of support available within the local area. The successful applicant will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering a range of expertise, including health and social care to enable people to make any changes in their lives or make informed choices necessary to resolve their issues.

Information and Advice Telephone/Outreach Advisor

15 hours per week.
Salary £8,483 per annum based in Littlehampton

Our aim is to promote the well-being of all older people and make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

We deliver an information and advice service to people aged 50 and over, as well as their families and carers, on a wide range of issues. We operate an Advice Quality Standard (AQS) telephone advice line, face to face advice at outreach locations throughout West Sussex and home visits for less mobile clients.  

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team with proven communication and people skills, knowledge and experience of delivering advice. You will be required to provide county wide information and advice for older people by answering enquiries from the public over the telephone, in person and via email or other written means.

The Information and Advice service provides advice on a broad range of topics including, financial, benefits, debt, housing, employment, consumer, care, community support, funding care and leisure activities.

Activity Worker, Adur Community Clubs

10 hours per week Tuesday to Thursday Salary £9 per hour

An enthusiastic and capable individual is required to join our team to design and run activities and assist our members whilst they attend the centre. The successful candidate will be running the sessions, encouraging our members to join in and these will include sharing relevant information to members, art and craft groups, bingo, quiz’s plus you will also deliver chair-based exercise classes, for which training will be provided if necessary. A friendly and fun disposition is essential as well as some experience of running activities for older people. You will be required to work:

Tuesday       10.30am – 2pm in Shoreham
Wednesday   9.30am – 12.30pm in Shoreham
Thursday      10.30am – 2pm in Sompting

Crisis Care Assistant

Variable hours per week as Bank relief, based in Brighton & Hove

Age UK delivers a range of services and activities to meet vulnerable people’s needs. Our aim is to promote the well-being of all older people and make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience and enable people to flourish. We are looking for people to join our Crisis team supporting people when they need it most. The service provides short term care (up to 14 days) following hospital discharge, onset of a sudden illness or when informal care breaks down. Care assistants deliver low level personal care as required and carry out basic risk assessments. Care assistants have a flexible approach, are able to use their initiative when working alone and communicate well within the team. The service operates throughout the year and full support and training will be provided. We have an excellent team of carers who will make you welcome and be supportive. This is a CQC registered service. You will find working as a carer for Age UK a positive and fulfilling experience.

Senior Community Link Worker 

37 hours, Monday to Friday 
Salary £22,991.80
Base to be agreed within Horsham & Mid Sussex

Age UK West Sussex and Age UK Brighton and Hove have recently merged. With new combined leadership, we are developing and designing a future strategy and vision for older people across both West Sussex and Brighton and Hove. 

We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Primary Care Networks communities (PCN) throughout Horsham & Mid Sussex (formally Communities of Practice) and are looking to recruit a senior community link worker (CLW)  to provide line management and support the development of the services.

The Senior Community Link worker will work alongside the PCN, multidisciplinary teams within Horsham & Mid Sussex.  They will support patients to navigate their way around Health, Social Care and Voluntary Sector Services to access community based solutions to help manage their conditions and improve their quality of life.  The Senior has line management responsibilities for a small team of CLW.  They are also responsible for organising groups to be led by other health professionals.

The role may include working with volunteers to provide patients with the information to identify solutions to their circumstances and bring about the changes necessary to improve their health, wellbeing.  

Our aim is to recruit enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with people to enable them to adopt an independent lifestyle. You need to be a problem solver, an organised person with good administration, observation and communication skills.

Bank Staff – Support Workers, Crawley

£9.78 per hour

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to assist people who have dementia and provide support to their carers for our Daybreak Service. You will be assisting with various activities and help to serve lunch during the day plus provide support to their carers. 

Experience of people who have dementia, whether personal or in a work environment, and a caring and compassionate disposition are essential for this role. This position requires great flexibility as the hours will not be the same every week and you will be required to cover staff holiday, sickness and other absence in the Crawley area, some of which may be at short notice.

Nail Cutting Service Administrative Coordinator

30 hours a week over 5 days, based in Brighton
Salary £16,552

The nail cutting service supports older people across Brighton & Hove and we are hoping to expand this to West Sussex in 2020. We operate a clinic where clients come to us for basic foot care as well as providing home visits for those clients that are housebound.

An exciting new role has been created for an enthusiastic administrative coordinator to help out with our nail cutting team based in Brighton. We are looking for someone who can help with the booking of appointments, welcoming clients, taking payments and managing our nail cutter’s electronic diaries. You will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills and assist the manager in the promotion of the service.

Home Helpers required

We are looking for SELF EMPLOYED HOME HELPS in the WEST SUSSEX, BRIGHTON and HOVE areas to help with household tasks, cleaning, shopping and provide social support to assist older people to remain independent in their own homes.

Working between Monday and Friday, the hours are flexible and according to your availability.  Rates of pay are between £10 and £14 per hour depending on the area.

Car drivers preferred but not essential.

All applicants will have a DBS check through Age UK West Sussex and must have their own Liability Insurance.  Training and ongoing support will be provided.

Gardeners / Handypeople required

We are looking for SELF EMPLOYED GARDENERS / HANDYPEOPLE in WEST SUSSEX to help with gardening and odd jobs to assist older people to remain independent in their own homes.

Working between Monday and Friday, the hours are flexible and according to your availability.  Rate of pay is £15 per hour for both gardeners and handypeople.

You will need to have all your own tools and equipment.  You must have Liability Insurance.
