We have a group turnover of approximately £2.5million with a large percentage coming from local government funding and a staff of around 100. 

We are a lively and innovative charity providing a wide range of services and support to older people throughout the county which include our Elderberry Club - respite for Dementia Carers, Activity & Social Centres along with our Community Based Clubs, Home from Hospital, Information & Advice and Help at Home. Home Helpers required

We are looking for SELF EMPLOYED HOME HELPS in the BRIGHTON, HOVE, ADUR and LITTLEHAMPTON  areas to help with household tasks, cleaning, shopping and provide social support to assist older people to remain independent in their own homes.

Working between Monday and Friday, the hours are flexible and according to your availability.  Rates of pay are £10 per hour.

Car drivers preferred but not essential.

All applicants will have a DBS check through Age UK West Sussex.  Training and ongoing support will be provided.

Social Prescription Coordinator

 33.5 hours, Monday to Friday, Salary £10.60 per hour (£20,394 FTE)

We are delighted to be working in partnership with The Regis Local Community Network to deliver a Social Prescription service.  We will have Social Prescription Coordinators working within the GP surgeries in the Regis area.  They will provide people with the advice needed to identify a range of community based solutions to meet their needs and that extra support to implement solutions helping them to self manage their condition and health and wellbeing.

The Social Prescription Coordinator (SPC) will work alongside existing services to bridge the gap between GP Surgeries, other health and social care agencies and local community services.  They will support patients to navigate their way around Health, Social Care and Voluntary Sector Services to access community based solutions to help manage their conditions and improve their quality of life.

The role may include working with a team of volunteers to provide patients with the information and advice to identify solutions to their circumstances and bring about the changes necessary to improve their health, wellbeing.  Our aim is to recruit enthusiastic people who enjoy working with people to enable them to adopt an independent lifestyle.  You need to be a problem solver, an organised person with good administration, observation and communication skills.

St. Andrews, Rustington 5 hours per week on Thursdays 9am – 2pm

You will get to know our members so will respond to any special dietary requirements or preferences, promoting choice, dignity and respect. Managing the kitchen supplies, you will also be responsible for checking and maintaining kitchen equipment.
You will complete all necessary paperwork such as COSHH, HACPP, whilst adhering to company policies and procedures.
Support the Centre Coordinator and Community Activities Manager in training and supporting kitchen volunteers.
Occasionally you will help cater for ad hoc special events that take place over the weekend or in the evening

Chef, Adur Community Clubs 

10 hours a week, 2 days a week; Tuesday in Shoreham and Thursday in Sompting. 9.30am – 2.30pm

Bank Staff - Support Workers

£9.78 per hour

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to assist people who have dementia and provide support to their carers for our Day Break Service. You will be assisting with various activities and help to serve lunch during the day plus provide support to their carers.  

Experience of people who have dementia, whether personal or in a work environment, and a caring and compassionate disposition are essential for this role. This position requires great flexibility as the hours will not be the same every week and you will be required to cover staff holiday, sickness and other absence at either centre, some of which may be at short notice.
