Tackling loneliness across West Sussex this winter.

While some older people find their social lives busier than ever in retirement, others find themselves feeling lonely. Bereavement can mean people live alone in later life, and ill health can make getting out and about more difficult. We estimate there are over 13,200 lonely older people across the county and we want them to know that Age UK West Sussex is here to help.

In December we gave out 500 bags of support – cotton tote bags filled with information and goodies – to local older people.
If you weren't able to get your hands on a physical bag we've created a digital bag of support below:

Anyone aged 50+ can call our Information & Advice team who will be able to offer personalised advice on tackling loneliness – everything from social groups, to home visits, depending on your circumstances.

If you aren’t lonely, perhaps you could pass these details on to a friend or neighbour, or invite them round for a drink and a chat. We know many older people go a whole week without speaking to anyone and we’re desperate for that to change.

No one should have no one this winter. Please turn to us at Age UK West Sussex if you feel lonely – we’re here for you.

Support is just a phone call away – our number is 0800 019 1310.
