Our new Handyperson Service is now available across Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove. Our service is designed to provide a helping hand with those smaller jobs around the home that you may find difficult, inconvenient or simply need a little extra support with.
Our trusted and DBS checked handypeople can help with:
✅ Fitting curtain poles and window blinds
✅ Assembling flat-pack furniture
✅ Installing grab rails
✅ Hanging pictures, mirrors and other wall fixtures
✅ Putting up shelves
✅ Fitting key safes
✅ Other small DIY jobs
You supply the materials and we do the work. If you are unsure whether we can help with a particular job, please get in touch with the Help at Home team. We will be happy to discuss your requirements and let you know whether it is something our service can undertake.
What jobs can't we undertake?
While our handypeople can help with many small jobs, they are not qualified tradespeople. For this reason, there are certain types of work that we cannot safely or appropriately carry out.
These include:
• Plumbing work
• Electrical work
• Gas work
• Painting and decorating
• General building work
• Major carpentry work
For these types of jobs, you will need to contact a suitably qualified and appropriately registered tradesperson.
If you are not sure what type of professional you need, our team may be able to offer general guidance about the nature of the work, although we cannot recommend or arrange a tradesperson on your behalf.
Trusted and reliable support
We understand that inviting someone into your home is a big part of using a service like this. That’s why all of our handypeople are DBS checked and insured.
Our service is available throughout the year, so you can contact us whenever you need assistance with an eligible job. There is no need to wait for a particular time of year or a special appointment period.
Whether it’s a job you have been meaning to get around to, something that needs doing to make your home safer, or simply a task that you would prefer to have some help with, our Handyperson Service could be just what you need.
