Snow on the ground won't stop our volunteers

Snow on the ground is not a problem for our volunteers.

Age UK County Durham volunteers were determined not to be deterred by a bit of snow over the last couple of weeks. Although we cannot always guarantee our shopping support can take place in bad weather, we will do our best whenever possible.

During last week’s bad weather, many of our volunteers were still out and about shopping for older vulnerable people in County Durham.

Andrea Bosomworth knew that her car would struggle on the cobbles to deliver the shopping to one of her regular client's who she helps on a weekly basis.  So she wrapped up warm, threw her sledge in the back of her car and set off.  She said,

‘It will take more than a bit of snow to stop me.’

Andrea and our other regular volunteers completed 208 shops during December.

We could not be MORE PROUD of them all and we are privileged to have them on our team.
