Welcome Places
What are Welcome Places?
Welcome Places can be located in various venues, including places of worship, community centres, schools, libraries, and even hospitals. Most importantly, they are safe spaces that allow everyone to connect, belong, and contribute.

Examples of Welcome Places
- Warm to sit, have a hot drink and a snack, and possibly take part in an activity.
- Where people can meet other people and reduce the effects of loneliness and social isolation.
- Where people can receive information and advice to help reduce poverty e.g. by claiming appropriate benefits.
- Where people can connect with other sources of support, and learn about other activities in their area.
In partnership with the Council’s South West Local Area Committee, Age UK Sheffield provides ongoing, on-the-ground, support to new and existing Welcome Place providers in South West Sheffield.
