Based in the Hetton area of Sunderland (Coalfields), Age UK Sunderland’s Metcalfe Centre provides a tranquil setting for day service provision for people with a moderate dementia diagnosis.

The centre has a beautiful colourful dementia friendly interior and holds the silver award from Sterling University for its environmental design, the only charitable day service in the country to hold this award.

Dedicated and trained staff provide a warm welcome and a variety of activities to help stimulate those living with a moderate diagnosis of dementia, providing much needed respite support for carers.

Transport is available to access the day service and clients have access to a nutritious two-course meal.

The centre is vibrant and stimulating with a fantastic sensory garden and is a lovely place to support people at an often difficult phase in their lives.
