Age UK Surrey celebrated this year's Surrey Day by taking part in an iconic cycling race on Saturday, 9th May. A team of 15 riders took part in the Surrey Hills Classic 2026, a 125km bicycle ride across the Surrey Hills, taking on some of its toughest climbs, including Box Hill, White Down and Southern England’s highest point, Leith Hill.
The weather was fantastic, showing Surrey at its best with its variety of landscapes, from rolling chalk downs and vibrant grasslands to lush woodlands and scenic heaths. The ride took 5 hours and ended with a celebration in the event village.
To date, the team have raised over £3,000 for Age UK Surrey with donations still coming in. We would like to thank all the riders who took part; your incredible effort to conquer the Surrey Hills will make a difference to so many people's lives to support happiness, health and connection.
A huge thank you to all our riders for taking part and to our generous sponsors W.RE for making it possible to take on this Surrey challenge!

This event was part of our current campaign, Age Better TOGETHER in Surrey, which encourages people to take on a challenge to raise funds for Age UK Surrey's services that keep older adults in Surrey independent, connected, and thriving.
The campaign also encourages positive steps today to help us age better in the future. We want to get people thinking, talking, and taking action that will help them in the years to come.
