NHS Collaborates with Age UK Isle of Wight for Digital Drop-In Event

Published on 03 April 2024 09:45 AM

The NHS has recently announced the launch of a new patient portal, the Patient Engagement Portal (PEP), aimed at revolutionising how patients manage their appointments. In line with this initiative, Age UK Isle of Wight's Digital Friendly Island (DFI) team is partnering with the NHS to host an informative drop-in session on the 9th of April at the hospital from 10am to 3pm.

The drop-in session will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn more about the PEP, the NHS App, and how Age UK Isle of Wight's DFI service can assist in accessing essential services online. With the new patient portal, individuals with smartphones will no longer have to wait for appointment letters to arrive by post. They can now easily view, confirm, cancel, or reschedule appointments with just a click of a button.

The PEP is set to launch digital letters for outpatient appointments by the end of April 2024. Patients are encouraged to ensure that their mobile phone numbers are up to date in the NHS system to benefit from this digital service.

For more information about the PEP, visit www.iow.nhs.uk/PEP, and for details about the NHS App, visit www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/about-the-nhs-app/.
