Bringing older people, support and communities together
Age UK Northamptonshire was delighted to welcome local older people, carers, families and community organisations to our Ageing Well One Stop Shop: What's on Your Doorstep? event on Thursday 1st October 2026, marking the International Day of Older Persons.
Held at the William and Patricia Venton Centre in Northampton, the event brought together 20 organisations, represented by 28 professionals, alongside 21 visitors from across Northamptonshire. The afternoon provided a valuable opportunity for people to discover local services, access support and advice, and make new connections within their community.
Visitors were able to speak directly with a wide range of organisations offering information, support, activities and services designed to help people stay independent, connected and well as they age. The event also encouraged meaningful conversations between professionals and community members, helping to raise awareness of the support available locally.

One particularly moving piece of feedback came from a visitor who told us that, within just an hour of attending, she had found the help she needed and left feeling much happier knowing that support was on its way. Stories like this highlight the importance of bringing services together in one place and making information accessible to those who need it most.
The event also provided an opportunity for attendees to share their thoughts on what it means to age well in Northamptonshire, helping us to better understand the challenges people face and the support that matters most to them.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended, exhibited at and supported the event. Your enthusiasm, knowledge and willingness to work together helped make the day such a success.
As we reflect on the positive impact of the event, we remain committed to working alongside local organisations and communities to ensure older people across Northamptonshire can access the information, support and opportunities they need to age well.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to building on these connections and continuing to work together to support older people across the county.
