We are delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Harvey as the new Chair of the Board at Age UK Plymouth.
Chris joins us at an important time as we continue to respond to the challenging needs of older people across the city. With a career spanning more than five decades in health and social care, Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership experience that will be invaluable to our charity's future.
Beginning his professional journey as a Biomedical Scientist in pathology in 1974, Chris went on to build an extensive career in regulation, compliance and audit. Alongside his professional achievements, he has held a number of governance roles, including service as a school governor and a trustee of the Royal National College for the Blind.
Chris has long championed learning, professional development and high quality care. His values align closely with Age UK Plymouth's mission to help older people maintain their independence, wellbeing and quality of life.
"I am honoured to join Age UK Plymouth as Chair of the Board. The charity plays such an important role in the lives of older people across our city, and I am looking forward to working alongside the team, volunteers and fellow trustees. As our population continues to grow older, it is more important than ever that people can access the support and advice they need to live better. I am excited to be part of the next stage of Age UK Plymouth's journey."
The demand for support for older people continues to rise, bringing new opportunities and challenges for charities like our own. With the number of older residents in Plymouth expected to increase significantly over the coming years, we remain committed to expanding our reach and ensuring more people can benefit from our services.
Everyone at Age UK Plymouth is pleased to welcome Chris and looks forward to the experience, enthusiasm and leadership he will bring to the role.
