Age UK Solihull's New Partnership

Published on 23 April 2019 02:08 PM

Age UK Solihull has delivered a one to one befriending service for older people who are lonely and/or socially isolated for over 20 years we have now joined forces with GoodGym to support more vulnerable older people living in our local communities.

GoodGym volunteers keep fit whilst supporting older people.  They call the older people they run to coaches and their coaches motivate the volunteer to make a regular run.

GoodGym volunteers also undertake Mission Runs when they run to older people to help them with one-off tasks they are unable to do for themselves such as changing a lightbulb, some light gardening or moving furniture.

All GoodGym volunteers are DBS checked, have had references checked and receive appropriate training.

Don’t worry if running’s not your thing.  Age UK Solihull are always looking for new volunteers to provide regular visits to older people – however they get there.
