An Evening of Celebration is a huge success!

We held "An Evening of Celebration" earlier this month, to celebrate our Ruby anniversary year, kick off the festive season, and raise funds to support older people in the Solihull borough.

Around 90 guests attended the event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The evening consisted of a dinner, drinks, a Speed Quiz hosted by Mister Quiz, and an entertaining and informative talk by Bill Farnsworth about his time as a chef at the iconic Savoy Hotel.

Our Chair, Sally Tomlinson, proposed a toast to the charity and thanked everyone involved in keeping our services for older people running.

A raffle was run, with some incredible prizes, sourced by Bill Farnsworth using his contacts in the catering industry. The coveted top prize was afternoon tea at the Savoy Hotel, with rail travel included. Other prizes included an overnight stay at Eckington Manor, lunch at The Restaurant at UCB, a Côte at home hamper, and passes for the health and fitness clubs at The Village Hotel and Voco St John’s.

We are grateful to Solihull-based software and services provider, Energy One, for their generous sponsorship, which means more of the proceeds from the evening will help us to support older and vulnerable residents of the Solihull borough.

This sponsorship, as well as ticket sales, the raffle, Christmas card sales and generous donations at the event topped £4,000, which will help us run our services to support around 10,000 older and vulnerable Solihull residents each year.

Age UK Solihull’s Digital Marketing and Fundraising Manager, Rebecca Jacob, says, “We had a fantastic time at An Evening of Celebration. It was great to see our supporters coming together, including staff, volunteers, corporate partners and some new supporters as well. We are absolutely thrilled with the total raised, which will go a long way to helping us to be here for older and vulnerable residents who need us this difficult winter and beyond. Thank you to everyone involved in making the evening such a success.”
