Last week the Government outlined new advice on containing the spread of the Coronavirus which suggested people with a fever or ‘new, continuous’ cough should self-isolate but older people in general did not currently need to take this step.
At Age UK Horsham District we are working closely with our partners, including West Sussex County Council, Horsham District Council and Clinical Commissioning Groups to ensure we follow their expert guidance locally, as well as following Government advice on the Coronavirus. Our priority is to continue to support and help to protect the older people we work with during this difficult time.
Currently, our Lavinia House centre will remain open and existing services will continue. We are following public health guidelines and are taking extra precautions, increasing our cleaning procedures, encouraging hand washing/sanitation and making tissues readily available. We don’t want to close our centre unless absolutely necessary, as we know for many it is a lifeline.
No matter what, we will be there for older people in whatever capacity we can be. We will adapt our services where possible to continue offering emotional and practical help to older people in Horsham District.
Some of you may have been aware of our Strictly Vintage Tea Dance this Saturday 21st March at the Drill Hall in Horsham. We have taken the decision to cancel this event in order to minimise the risk to our supporters, staff and volunteers.
