Age Cymru Dyfed was delighted to join PLANED and fellow partners in welcoming Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Jane Hutt, to the Carmarthenshire Living Well Centre this week.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the collaborative work that Age Cymru Dyfed and partners have led in developing and delivering a vibrant community space, now shared by more than 20 organisations.

The Centre currently supports over 600 people each month, offering one-to-one consultations, advice and guidance, group activities, as well as creative and digital sessions. During her visit, the Cabinet Secretary saw first-hand how a truly community-led solution can play a vital role in both preventative support and post-care pathways.

Caroline Davies, Deputy CEO of Age Cymru Dyfed, said:

“The Carmarthenshire Living Well Centre is a fantastic example of partnership in action. It empowers communities, supports wellbeing, and provides access to essential services in a welcoming environment. At Age Cymru Dyfed, we are proud to work alongside PLANED and other partners to deliver opportunities that promote independence and resilience for older people across West Wales. Here at the Centre, we run activities such as our Moove and Groove dance group for over-fifties, which not only encourage physical activity but also reduce isolation and build friendships.”

Partners and projects also joined discussions on the day, highlighting the strength of collaboration across West Wales. Together, they demonstrated how this model – already making a difference in Carmarthenshire – has the potential to inspire other counties to develop their own bespoke, collective solutions to local needs.

The day was captured with fantastic photographs by Martin Jones of Sandy Bear Children’s Bereavement Charity.
