New Service to Support Older People across Pembrokeshire

To coincide with International Day of Older Persons on 1 October 2025. Age Cymru Dyfed are pleased to launch a new Pembrokeshire Housing Support Grant Older Persons Service in partnership with Pembrokeshire County Council and funded by the Welsh Government.

The Housing Support Grant Older Persons Service is an early intervention programme to support activity that prevents older people from becoming homeless, stabilises their housing situation, or helps potentially homeless people find and keep accommodation. This Service has been designed to promote independence, wellbeing and dignity for older people living across Pembrokeshire. It will:

  • provide housing-related support to help older residents allowing them to remain safe, secure, and comfortable in their homes.
  • support independence by assisting with practical needs such as managing tenancies, accessing adaptations, and connecting with local services.
  • promote wellbeing by tackling isolation, encouraging social connections, and signposting to community and health resources.
  • offer tailored assistance recognising that every individual has unique circumstances, preferences, and aspirations as they grow older.

The launch on the International Day of Older Persons is a fitting opportunity to highlight the value, contribution, and rights of older people in Pembrokeshire. The new service reflects a commitment to ensuring that older residents can continue to live fulfilling, independent lives in their own homes and communities for as long as possible. Working in partnership with local organisations, housing providers, and community groups, Age Cymru Dyfed’s new service will create a joined-up network of support that puts older people at the heart of decision-making.

Councillor Simon Hancock said,

“As ‘Older Person Champion’ I am delighted to see the launch of this new early intervention programme to support our older Pembrokeshire residents. It reflects the commitment the Local Authority has in ensuring older residents can continue to live fulfilling lives in their own communities.”

To celebrate the launch, Age Cymru Dyfed will host a drop-in information day at our Haverfordwest Office on 1st October from 10am to 2.30pm. Clients, residents, referral partners, and community stakeholders are warmly invited to meet the team, learn more about what the service offers, and explore the range of support available. Refreshments will be provided, and information packs will be available to take away on the day.
