"We're here to support people aged 50+ but also their families and their carers. And generally to build resilience and independence for older people. We want to help Dyfed love later life. We offer services and support, to make friends, combat loneliness and isolation. To help them to make sure they're getting all the entitlements and grants that they're eligible for."
"10 years ago, my wife, Linda, went in with a headache. Two weeks later, she passed away. It was that quick. So it took some getting used to. I think if I'd have been at home just caring for my husband, I think I may have had a nervous breakdown. I nearly didn't go. But I thought, no, I need to go. And that's when I first met Rhiannon and Jeremy. And I started going...and I've been going ever since."
"When you've got a digital champion like Michelle, you've got that security and safety net. You know, you can move on and do things that you otherwise wouldn't."
"I had a message from one of our clients one day, an email to say "I'm hand gliding off the Pyrenees. I thought good grief, I only saw him two days ago. He was on VR, I realised he'd bought his own set because he'd been so impressed with what we'd had."
"The group has been a lifeline. They just make me laugh when I'm here. You know, you just feel refreshed. Age Cymru Dyfed is a gift to so many people. Yeah it's a gift... it's a miracle for some. When I went then with Age Cymru Dyfed I thought, "Oh, I like this." And that's what I needed."
How we helped Dyfed love later life in 2025
As we look back on 2025, Age Cymru Dyfed reflects on a year defined by care, connection, and community action. Across West Wales, many people over fifty face challenges that can make later life harder than it should be, including loneliness, bereavement, financial pressures, limited transport, and declining health. Throughout 2025, our work focused on meeting those challenges with practical support and genuine human connection, helping people not just to cope, but to feel valued, supported and part of their community.
Our services, powered by our amazing team of staff, volunteers, partners and trustees reached people at moments of uncertainty and change, offering reassurance, advice, and companionship when it mattered most. This work was made possible by the dedication of staff, the generosity of supporters and the extraordinary commitment of volunteers who gave their time, skills, and compassion to help others live later life well. Strong partnerships with Hywel Dda University Health Board, county councils and Welsh Government also played a vital role, helping us deliver joined-up support and reach people at the right time with the right help.
