Out and about in September

On Tuesday we were in East Hunsbury.

We are a local independent charity

We aim to provide our services and support to older people living throughout Northamptonshire, so we welcome the opportunity to attend local events to raise awareness of how we can help in the county.

In the first week of September we were in East Hunsbury on Tuesday, organising a static donations collection [above] for residents in the local area.  We rely on support to raise vital funds in our eight charity shops so we hope people appreciated the opportunity to bring their unwanted items to our van, parked just a stone's throw from their home.

On Tuesday were were in Rushden.

We were also in Rushden on Tuesday providing information and giving our leaflets to older people attending Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance's [always educational] Mature Driver Event at the Rushden Goods Shed.

On Wednesday we were in Wellingborough.

On Wednesday Natalie Kindon and Sophie Ingall had an information stand at Wellingborough U3A's Wellbeing Event to raise awareness of our Age Well and Collaborative Care teams which work closely together.

On Wednesday we were also in Daventry.

Also on Wednesday we were delighted to talk to members of the Daventry District Forum who were attending a public event organised by Gloria Edwards-Davidson [above left] of the Over Fifties Forum and Emma Parry of West Northamptonshire Council.  We were one of six local charities providing information about the support we provide, along with the fabulous Danetre Ukulele Orchestra who performed a highly enjoyable set (mainly hits from the 60s).

The tv cameras came to us in Northampton on Wednesday.

And finally, on Wednesday the ITV Anglia News cameras came to us at our day centre in Northampton.  Many of us prefer the recent hot weather to non stop rain but we are all advised to take sensible precautions when the temperature reaches the high twenties and beyond.

High temperatures can be dangerous for many older people, especially people with heart or circulatory conditions.  It's important to avoid spending too much time outside or exercising during the hottest part of the day (between 11am and 3pm), and try to keep in the shade where you can.
