Our support enables older people to make more of life

Age UK Northamptonshire is delighted to support Alzheimer's Society's Dementia Action Week, 18th - 24th May 2026.  We join them in continuing to raise awareness of dementia, the UK's biggest killer.  We are proud to provide the support that enables older people in Northamptonshire living with dementia to make more of life.

Social isolation can greatly increase a person’s risk of dementia. Engaging in social activities may help to build up your brain’s ability to relieve stress and improve your mood.  Our Care Support At Home Service and day centres in Northampton and Towcester provide regular social support that helps older people live independently.  Not everyone who attends our day centres or who uses our Care Support At Home Service has a diagnosis of dementia.  We tailor our activities and adapt to individual capabilities, interests and needs, from a walk in the garden to physical exercise or simply having a cup of tea and a chat  - all this can enhance a person's well-being and provide a sense of purpose and enjoyment.

Age UK Northamptonshire will have an information stand at the Dementia Road Show 2026 at Weston Favell Library on Friday 22nd May from 9am - 3pm.  The event is being organised by the Dementia and Delirium Lead Nurse from Northampton General Hospital.  We will be able to provide leaflets and other useful information about the services and support we provide.  This free event is open to everyone.
