Five runners completed the Great Birmingham Run in aid of Age UK Solihull

On Sunday 13 October 2019, five runners took on the Great Birmingham Run in aid of Age UK Solihull.

  • Chris Plester and Rob Tonks before setting off

  • Ann-Marie Aston on her way

Ann-Marie Aston from The Wilkes Partnership, Rob Tonks and Chris Plester from GoodGym Solihull, Nick Salter who is a Winter Warmth Volunteer and a member of Knowle and Dorridge Lions, and Rory Dunne who is a staff member's relative, all braved the wet weather and ran 11 miles through Birmingham City Centre, Edgbaston and Bournville.

  • Rory Dunne gives us a wave

  • Rob Tonks spotted near Bournville

Sponsorship money is still coming in, but to date, the five of them (and a sixth who unfortunately was unable to run on the day due to an injury) have raised £1,751 which will help us to provide our services for local people who need us.

  • Crowds cheer on the runners

  • Chris Plester shows off his medal

The runners all made excellent time, each finishing in under two hours. Rory and Ann-Marie have both already signed up for their next half marathon!

  • Thumbs up from Rory after completing the run

  • A proud Ann-Marie after crossing the finish line

A huge well done to all of our runners, and thank you for choosing to support us!

An Update

Joanna Jacob, who was unable to take part in the Great Birmingham Run due to an injury, completed the Victoria Park Half Marathon instead in February 2020 when her ankle had recovered. Well done to Joanna, and thank you for raising £425 (plus Gift Aid) for us!
