Slip Into Slippers for Older People's Day

Published on 26 September 2022 01:13 PM

Age UK Solihull is inviting Solihull residents to slip into slippers this Friday (30 September 2022) to help raise much-needed funds.

Every year we ask local schools, businesses, community groups and individuals to don their cosiest footwear for the day and make a small donation to mark UN International Day of Older Persons and UK Older People’s Day (which fall on Saturday 1 October this year).

Now in its ninth year, Slip Into Slippers aims to celebrate older people and the valuable contribution they make to our society, while raising funds to help Age UK Solihull to support those who need us most.

In 2021, over £1,840 was raised from the campaign. Nine schools took part, including Marston Green Infant Academy, Damson Wood Nursery & Infant School, Sharmans Cross Junior School, and Balsall Common Primary School. Chelmsley Wood care home, Saxon Court, also joined in with the event.

Rebecca Jacob, Digital Marketing and Fundraising Manager at Age UK Solihull, says, “Slip Into Slippers is a really fun campaign which anyone can get involved in. Whether you are at home, at work or somewhere else this Friday – as long as it is safe to do so, you can give your feet a treat and help raise funds. If everyone donates just £1 each it can help us make a real difference to older people in the Solihull borough.”

If you are interested in taking part in ‘Slip into Slippers’, please contact Age UK Solihull’s Fundraising Team on 0121 704 7842, email events@ageuksolihull.org.uk or find out more here.

Donations can be made by sending in cash or cheques, or you can donate to the event’s online fundraising page.
