Fundraising Lead

Each year we fundraise to ensure our vital services for local older people are available for those in need

Introducing our new fundraising lead - Sarah

Fundraising is essential for Age UK Wakefield District because it it helps make sure older people get the care, companionship, and support they need. As people get older, things like getting around, staying social, or managing on a limited income can become more difficult. Many older adults face challenges such as social isolation, mobility issues, financial hardship, and health concerns. Through fundraising, Age UK Wakefield District can offer services like home visits, befriending phone calls, digital inclusion and social programs that promote dignity, independence, and emotional wellbeing — little things that can make a big difference in someone’s day. Without consistent fundraising efforts, these life-enriching and, in some cases, life-saving programs would not be sustainable.

Sarah has worked for Age UK Wakefield District for a year as a Hospital Transport Support Driver but she has now added a fundraising feather to her cap.

My name is Sarah, a wife and mum of two who lives in Wakefield.222x222 Sarah Swift.jpg

For many years I have been involved in fundraising and organising lots of events for various charities including running many 10ks, half and full marathons.

My previous role was a community champion at a supermarket, connecting and supporting many groups and charities around the Wakefield area. I have been employed by Age Uk Wakefield district for just over a year working in the Hospital Transport Team. My role involves taking people home from hospital supporting and settling them into their home. I will be continuing this role but starting a fundraising project organising and managing events and fundraising opportunities.
