Meet Haroun in National Volunteers' Week

Meet Haroun

Published on 21 May 2023 03:01 PM

If you need help with computers then our digital champion Haroun is the man.

Haroun joined Age Cymru Dyfed as a volunteer just as the Covid lockdown began. He soon made his mark as a digital whizz kid. So much so, that within a few months he was offered a post on the digital team. From being one of Age Cymru Dyfed's youngest volunteers, Haroun is now one of our youngest staff members. He is renowned for his patience and determination to get clients up and running with technology; no matter how long it takes!

"I think the record is about four to five hours! The best part is when the clients succeed and realise they CAN do it. The sense of fulfilment I get is huge.

"In terms of additional skills gained, customer service is something I have learned on the job here. In previous roles I never really talked to people. Now I'm always on the phone!

"Volunteering really changed my life. I had no job, I was depressed and then I signed up for Age Cymru Dyfed. It gave me something to get up for."
