Peter Clarke born on 2 September 1938, passed away on 17 October 2023 and was cremated today, 16 August 2024 with Age Cymru Dyfed paying respects in person.

Peter Clarke, RAF Veteran from Aberporth, was laid to rest today - on 16 August 2024 supported by members of Age Cymru Dyfed staff. He had an interesting career with the RAF, living and working abroad for many years in Holland, Malta and Germany.

Peter who in recent years was a veteran member at Age Cymru Dyfed, worked on the ‘V Bombers’ and was part of the ground crew when the first mid-air refuelling was undertaken.

In retirement Peter lived with his late wife Phyllis in Aberporth and enjoyed travelling and ballroom dancing until her passing in 2020. Our staff had been supporting Peter for the years since he lost his wife and welcomed him to the D-Day memorial held at the Penrallt Hotel in Aberporth, Ceredigion.

Attendee in person from the older veterans project at Age Cymru Dyfed, Neil Davies, said;

"Steve, Nigel and myself were allowed to conduct a ceremony with Peter in the chapel. We draped his coffin with the RAF ensign to the sound of the RAF March playing in the background, I said a few words about and to Peter. Following the last post and reveille we bode a final farewell. So at the very end three RAF Veterans stood beside Peter and sent him on his way with that phrase known to all Airmen...Per Ardua ad Astra."

Rest in peace Peter.
