Age UK’s national “No one should have no one” campaign seems to have struck a chord in Milton Keynes.
We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of many people who, anonymously, have dropped off Christmas goodies and groceries for us to give to local older people. Our Home Support Workers have been pulling out all the stops to distribute festive parcels to the people they know who, for one reason or another, are not expecting any Christmas presents this year or will be on their own.
We would like to thank New Era Cap Company who kindly donated some beautifully wrapped presents for us to distribute. And thank you also to Tesco Kingston. Their customers have been amazing, donating festive goodies throughout December to the Little Boxes community project which is also supported by MK:FM.
Albert who has been in hospital recently said he hadn’t received a Christmas present for years and felt "overwhelmed by kindness". In the 21st century it can be difficult to distribute “charity” sensitively but the thought behind these unexpected festive hampers is so heartfelt that no one has turned us down. People appreciate a sincere gesture whatever their age.
