Over the past 2 years we have been delighted to assist Downshall Primary School in their pilot project of  intergenerational provision. Older people with Dementia have attended the school and joined the children in various activities, on three days of the week. Age UK Redbridge, Barking and Havering have helped the project by providing volunteers to help the older people take part in the activities. North East London Foundation Trust refer the older people with Dementia and the data collected by the school has shown this intervention has been extremely effective.

The School was entered for the National Dementia Care Awards and were sucessful in winning the award for Outstanding Dementia Care Innovation.

Our sincere congratulations go to all of those involved in the scheme.
