Volunteers Day Out to AudleyEnd House and Gardens

image of guide talking to volunteers Every year, our volunteers get the opportunity for a day out where they can meet other volunteers and relax in a beautiful setting and enjoy some culture, exercise and nice food. The trip is arranged by our Volunteer Co ordinator Harriet and our Befriending Service Co ordinator Nikki. This year the trip was to Audley End House and Gardens in beautiful Saffron Walden. There are two cafes, the Tearoom serves soups and light lunches with vegetables grown in the organic kitchen garden, and the Cart Yard cafe serving hot and cold food and drinks.

Audley End is an English Heritage site originally acquired by the Ministry of works in 1949. There are beautiful Victorian Gardens to explore, and you can have a guided tour around the house and gardens.

Here are some of the comments we received from our volunteers about the day:

Audrey, one of our befriending volunteers said "We had a wonderful day out getting to know other volunteers. Staff at the house were so helpful"
