Do you have the enthusiasm and desire to help older people to live their ‘best life’?

Age UK Somerset is the leading independent charity for older people in our area and we take pride in understanding, supporting and promoting their interests.

Due to a forthcoming retirement from the Board, we wish to invite applications from enthusiastic and motivated people who share our commitment to our charitable aims and core values.

As a Trustee, you will develop an understanding of your responsibilities towards compliance, prudence and care, working with the Chair and Chief Executive to ensure that the organisation has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction.  You should be prepared to give the necessary time for reading Board papers, attending around 5 daytime meetings each year (usually Wednesdays) and keep yourself informed about the charity’s activities.

As the Treasurer, liaising with the Chair, Chief Executive, Finance Manager and others as appropriate, you will have particular responsibility for overseeing the maintenance of proper accounts and books of record for the charity and any subsidiary trading company. You will also advise the Board on all financial matters relating to the charity and take the role of Chair of the Finance Sub-Committee.

Whilst this is a voluntary, unpaid position, essential out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

Age UK Somerset is striving to be an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.
