Winter Home Energy Check Service

The 1 hour check costs £25 and any draught proofing materials will be provided free - funded from our Household Support Fund. The check and equipment will be free for clients who are on our concession rate (ie on a means tested benefit) or referred from the Household Support Fund. This service is only available for residents who are 55 and over and are resident in the London Borough of Barnet.

Please note, this service is not available outside Age UK Barnet - Head Office's catchment area.

Are you winter ready? Our handyperson service can help you check your home to try and keep you warm, safe and energy efficient over the winter months.

We can undertake the following checks:

- Set heating timers and thermostats
- Assist with installing draught proofing
- Carry out light bulb checks
- Test smoke alarms are in working order
- Help read energy meters
- Check window and door latches are in place to minimise draughts
- Sweep leaves from essential pathways to prevent falls
- Assess for trip hazards and ensure safety rails are secure
- Provide advice on security, locks, key safes and ring door bells.

All the draught proofing equipment is free of charge.

Please ensure that the handyperson has a safe and secure place to park during his visit. If there are parking restrictions, then please provide the handyperson with a parking voucher.
