Kitchen Confidence Mondays (11am-1.30pm) at The Ann Owens Centre, East Finchley. These classes are aimed at giving participants the confidence to cook more dishes at home. The participants cook in groups and then everyone sits together to eat. The recipes are designed to be recreated at home. All ingredients supplied. Held at the Ann Owens Centre, Oak Lane, East Finchley N2 8LT.

Dementia Cafe: For people living with dementia and their carers. Meets on the first Monday of every month 2.00pm – 4.00pm. Support, advice and refreshments. New fitness class:  Circuits and strength for active ageing - starts Wednesday 22 May 2024.

Cook Together and Eat Supper Together - A new Cookery Course commencing 5th September at the Anne Owen Centre, East Finchley from 4.15 pm - 6.15pm. The classes will focus on producing healthy meals you can recreate at home. Participants cook in groups, then sit and eat together. Upstanding Citizens - Falls prevention exercise sessions: Fridays, 1.30pm - 3pm at Ann Owens Centre (N2 8LT) Led by an experienced dance and movement teacher in collaboration with a frailty specialist physiotherapist. Games Afternoon – 1st and 3rd Friday of every month from 2.00 – 4.00 pm at Trinity Church, Nether Street, North Finchley N12 7NN. Join us for board games, card games and the occasional 5-minute quiz. Tea, coffee, biscuits and sometimes cake! £1 contribution for refreshments.
We will be meeting for games every Friday in August on 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. And in September on 20. Our normal pattern of meeting 1st and 3rd Fridays resumes in October – 4 and 18, November 1 and 15, December 6.

Musical Memories – a new show by Jazzanne Arts -  28 and 29 August 2024

A fun singing and dancing performance with reminiscence conversations about schooldays, friendship, courting and more.  On 28 August (11am-12noon) the show will take place at 154 Station Road, Hendon NW4. On 29 August (1.45-3pm) it will be at the Ann Owens Centre, Oak Lane, East Finchley N2 8LT. The show is free, but donations are welcome. Booking essential as places limited. Support Group for those caring for someone living with dementia

Age UK Barnet has teamed up with Barnet Carers Centre to offer a support group for those caring for someone living with dementia.  A chance to meet others, share tips, and gain information about the condition and the services available in the area,  There will also be a programme of interesting speakers.  The monthly groups will alternate between two sites:  154 Station Road, Hendon NW4 3SP; and Ann Owens Centre, Oak Lane N2 8LT.  Everyone welcome!!  For further information please contact Barnet Carers on or 0203 995 1909 or phone Fiona Cronin at Age UK Barnet on 07799 519 314.

We hold regular healthy cookery demos at sheltered housing venues and community centres. Themes range from eating to boost immunity, to strengthen your bones and dishes to boost heart health.
