Preventative Services Carmarthenshire

Published on 31 March 2023 09:23 AM

Good news for Age Cymru Dyfed as they secure further funding to help the over 50s of West Wales.

As of 1 April 2023, Age Cymru Dyfed will be the new provider of Carmarthenshire Preventative Services for the over fifties plus people with physical disabilities living in Carmarthenshire following funding secured for Carmarthenshire County Council for the next four years.

As of May 2023, this fantastic new service commences across Carmarthenshire and will directly support the over fifties in the Carmarthenshire region to help improve their quality of life. The aim is to promote wellbeing, prevent, delay or reduce peoples’ need for statutory care and support and help them to live independently in their homes for as long as possible.

The county-wide service looks at immediate needs of service users through provision of much-needed information and through signposting and referring to other relevant specialist services delivered through Carmarthenshire.

This work with individuals aims to promote resilience to live an active life, increase and enhance social connections and develop skills and confidence to prevent/delay deterioration, where possible, through early interventions.

Age Cymru Dyfed will look to maximising skills and resources already available in communities and local organisations by offering information and connections to these valuable local resources.
