Age Friendly GP Surgeries

Resources are increasingly stretched for GP surgeries and strategies such as Age Friendly Surgery are needed to maintain patient centred primary healthcare for older people. In collaboration with older people, Age Friendly Island developed a framework and toolkit for GP surgeries showing that actions need not be elaborate or costly.

Age Friendly Training

The Age Friendly training was written in January 2016. It looks to address cultural attitudes among ageing focusing on physical, physiological and environmental barriers. We worked with senior leads from Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue, Hampshire Police, Southern Vectis (Local transport provider), to ensure that the training would benefit all customer facing staff. The training looks to increase delegate’s knowledge of the challenges an ageing population may bring, as well as the vast opportunities in preparing for, and adapting to the potential needs of this consumer group.
