Age UK Somerset’s Memory Connections MCST team played a leading role at this year’s Somerset Dementia Conference on 19 March, delivering an engaging and highly successful workshop to professionals from across the region.
The workshop, titled “Have a Go at CST: Exploring Activities that Support Memory and Connection,” was led by Michelle and Dan and attended by 32 delegates from the VCSFE and statutory sectors. Designed to be interactive and accessible, the session focused on a transport theme and gave participants the opportunity to experience Cognitive Stimulation Therapy first-hand.
The workshop received excellent feedback and was the most popular session of the day, highlighting the growing interest in practical, person-centred approaches to dementia support.
In addition to the workshop, the Age UK Somerset Singers opened the conference with a performance of four songs. Their contribution was warmly received and helped create a welcoming and uplifting atmosphere from the outset.
The event provided an important platform to showcase the impact and value of Age UK Somerset’s Dementia Services, as well as an opportunity to connect with professionals across the sector.
Reflecting on the day, there was a strong sense of pride in the team’s work and the positive difference being made in supporting people living with dementia and their families.
