40th Celebration

Published on 22 March 2023 09:55 AM

On the 22nd March 1983, Age Concern opened it's doors in a small office in Pontefract.  Since then, the charity has grown and evolved to meet the needs of the older community of Wakefield.  In 2010 Age Concern and Help the Aged joined forces to become Age UK meaning a change of name to...

Age UK Wakefield District.

In the last year, our fantastic teams of staff and volunteers have supported over 8000 local, older people with a range of issues from the simple to the complex.

We answer over 2000 telephone calls each month, visit hundreds of homes and greet hundreds more at our public events.  We are so grateful to our teams and the wonderful people of Wakefield we work with.

No one knows what the next 40 years will bring but we look forward to sharing the highs and supporting through the challenges.
