Thank you for the kind hospitality

A group of Age UK Milton Keynes clients enjoyed a delicious Community Tea Party in Wolverton

Di Broadbent, who is Memory Clubs Co-ordinator at Age UK Milton Keynes, was delighted to accompany eight of our clients to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea and some fabulous hospitality at The Radcliffe School in Wolverton on Thursday 18th July.  110 Year 8 students decided they wanted to celebrate the end of the school year and “give something back” to their community at the same time.  Other local people from Wolverton were also invited to enjoy an afternoon of socialising and musical entertainment at the school.

No effort was spared to ensure the guests’ comfort.  Students donned aprons and rolled out their best silver-service skills, ensuring the tea was kept topped up and plates cleared away promptly.  As well as scrumptious homemade scones and cakes, guests enjoyed a quick game of Bingo and even a Wolverton-themed quiz. Then they were entertained by some accomplished live musical performances, a turn by amateur magician Ted and a highly professional tap dancing routine by three other students.

“We’ve had a fantastic afternoon”, said Sue who attends a weekly club at Age UK Milton Keynes’ Peartree Centre. “Everyone has been so kind.”

It was great to be served tea and cakes and to enjoy a quick Wolverton-related quiz

Age UK Milton Keynes says a massive thank you to all the students and staff. They are “an absolute credit to their school” says Di.
