Age UK Sheffield marks Dementia Action Week 2026 with vital local support and services

Age UK Sheffield is proud to support Dementia Action Week 2026, 18-24 May, shining a spotlight on the wide range of services, advice and community support available for people living with dementia and their carers across the city.

With thousands of people in Sheffield affected by dementia, this national awareness week is an important opportunity to ensure individuals and families know where to turn for help, guidance and connection.

Supporting people at every stage of their dementia journey

At the heart of Age UK Sheffield’s offer is Dementia Advice Sheffield, a free, specialist service providing information, guidance and signposting for anyone affected by dementia.

Dementia Advice Sheffield – support and referral information

The service acts as a “one-stop shop” for non-clinical dementia support, helping people access local groups, services and practical advice tailored to their needs. 

 

A wide range of dementia services across Sheffield

Age UK Sheffield delivers a variety of dementia-friendly services designed to support wellbeing, independence and social connection:

Dementia Wellbeing Centres

Providing structured day support, activities, and respite for carers in a safe and engaging environment.

Dementia Wellbeing Centres (day services)

Centres offer activities such as arts, music and social sessions, helping people stay active and connected. 

Young Onset Dementia Hub (YOH)

Supporting people diagnosed under 65, helping them stay connected and access tailored support.

Rosemary Memory Cafés

Relaxed, welcoming spaces offering conversation, peer support and refreshments for people living with dementia and their carers.

These cafés are free to attend and provide vital opportunities to reduce isolation and build friendships.

From games mornings to social sessions, Age UK Sheffield runs regular activities across the city to support wellbeing and reduce loneliness.

As part of Dementia Action Week, Age UK Sheffield is encouraging organisations and communities to get involved in creating a more inclusive city through its Dementia Commitments initiative.

This initiative supports businesses and organisations to make practical changes that improve accessibility and understanding for people living with dementia. 

It forms part of a wider movement to ensure Sheffield is a place where people with dementia feel understood, supported and able to live well.
