The total number of reports has nearly doubled in the past three years but is probably the tip of the iceberg as shame prevents older people coming forward. One expert said the true number of elderly victims was likely to be in the millions.

In North Somerset, Lin, a member of our staff, works with victims of Scams and potential victims in conjuction with Trading Standards.  She received a local Hero award for supporting over 100 older people in the area.

We would love to extend this project across our whole area, but in the meantime a useful a Scams Prevention and Victim Support Toolkit produced by Age UK can be found here.
