Just 3 days left to enter the Age Friendly Tourism Business of the year Award - sponsored by Age UK Somerset

Does your business go out of your way to make sure your older customers feel comfortable, safe, welcomed and happy?

The Age Friendly Tourism Award (part of the Bristol, Bath and Somerset annual Tourism Awards) recognises and celebrates those tourism businesses, attractions, experiences, cafes and restaurants who have considered the needs of older visitors and go out of their way to create a positive experience for those in later life.  Age UK Somerset puts the needs of older people at the heart of what we do and  we sponsor this Age Friendly award to find tourism businesses that are taking the same approach.

One positive thing to come out of the last six months is an increased appreciation of older people.  The way that local communities have come together to protect those most at risk from Covid 19 and to provide help and companionship has been heart-warming to see.

We are conscious that with lockdown and shielding this has not been a great time for older visitors and customers in our lovely area.  Maybe you’ve pivoted to continue to provide your services but at a distance?  Even if you’ve been closed you can still enter if in the pre-lockdown time you prided yourself on being #agefriendly.

Do you go out of your way to make sure your older customers feel comfortable, safe, welcomed and happy?  If so, visit www.somersettourismawards.org.uk before the deadline of Sunday 27th September and enter the Age Friendly Tourism Business of the Year Award.  You’ll be glad you did!
