We are looking for Volunteers to help older people get their lives back after a stay in hospital. Please can you help?
We are working with Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SOMPAR) on an exciting Re-ablement project.
However we only have one member of staff working on this project and we really some volunteers to help her.
The purpose of Reablement is to help those discharged from acute and community hospitals and to support prevention of re-admission. We are helping to free beds and also, by providing short term support we can help individuals to live independently at home for as long as possible. We provide or point them to services to help them recover further and to re-build their confidence.
No two visits will be the same so we are looking for volunteers who like variety and can help us on a weekly basis, who are happy to visit folk in their home and are willing to work with us in providing answers to help improve the lives of our older clients.
Full training would be given and you would be supported 100% by us. The role is flexible and you can say no to any of the assignments offered.
All training, mileage, expenses etc, would be covered by Age UK Somerset. What you would be donating is your valuable time.
We need your help
As a Volunteer there are no set hours; you can give as much or as little time as you can spare, and you would be helping people who are living locally.
If you'd like to apply
We have a quick and simple application process. The next step is to either:
As our client's safety is our main concern, we always apply for references, ask you to make sure your car insurance is valid, and this role requires a DBS Certificate (formerly CRB) which we will arrange for you.
You can have a chat with the Re-ablement co-ordinator if you would like further information. Please call 01823 345627.
Thank you for your interest in our work.
We very much hope you will decide to join us as a Volunteer with Age UK Somerset and find challenges, new skills and a sense of achievement. We are really keen to recruit new Volunteers! THANK YOU!
